Royal Wedding

In 2011, the BBC offered dispensation for community groups from needing a TV licence, allowing them to hold street parties to celebrate the Royal Wedding; dispensation was also offered in 2018 by the BBC.

Local churches opened their doors inviting all to come and watch the 2011 Royal Wedding live on the twin screens; refreshments and flowers in abundance.

The full formal schedule was available from the BBC and other media providers.

The order of service was made available on line (deleted 2012); some churches adjusted their 'hymn boards' to help visitors join in using the hymn books in their own pews.
